I started photographing in my teens, at the end of the seventies, doing mostly B&W pictures. My father gave me a Minolta SRT for my 14th birthday and I was stuck. He was also my first inspiration with his own pictures of landscapes and portraits of friends and family.
In my twenties I spent a lot of time sketching and drawing, making illustrations for student magazines, concept drawings for my friends for various technical projects such as car- and motorcycle renovations and customizations (this was before Photoshop, mind you!). For many years the photographing was secondary to my sketching, but 10 years ago I realized that the digital revolution gave me completely new possibilities for creating pictures.
For me photography is primarily a tool for creation of pictures.
It has substituted drawing and painting as my media and process to create pictures that I envision. I'm fond of structures, patterns, still life and, of course, classical landscape photography.
Not all of my pictures fall into these categories, occasionally I also do street photography, portraits, weddings or shoot technological objects.
